The New Victory Theater
Kids' theater that wows parents, too

Established after a lengthy restoration of the historic Victoria Theater in 1995, the New Victory Theater has been bringing kids to the arts, and the arts to the kids of New York City, ever since.
So far we have seen The Princess and the Pea (a silly rendition of the fairy tale with impressive acrobatics), New Shoes (a sweetly haunting one-man, puppet-and-prop show about a young Catalonian boy and his new shoes), Yuletide Factory (a steampunk Christmas tale with acrobatics), Little Murmur (an intense inward journey of a man unpacking his childhood struggles with dyslexia), Magic City (a wildly creative, magical and tender story about a girl's struggle to adapt to her changing family) and Moya (an explosion of circus antics and incredible acrobatics with a compelling soundtrack).
This is an endeavor that speaks directly to kids as fellow arts lovers, not junior partners. These are powerful and engaging experiences for the adults, too; there's nothing watered-down about these shows.
An arts-and-crafts workshop opens 45 minutes before weekend performances, with different media for different ages and dexterity levels. Don't worry: there are snacks and coffee for sale, so you can straggle in on a Saturday morning to a soft landing. Hope to see you there!
