La Savane

My favorite restaurants are cozy hideaways that transport you with simple, delicious food and rich ambiance. At La Savane in South Harlem, the destination is West Africa, with a music selection to match, soccer on the TV and down-to-earth (albeit pretty slow) servers.

My personal favorites here are the whole tilapia (fried or roasted), the lamb shank and the wild game hen, with couscous, cassava, fried plantains or a yummy salad on the side. Bring a friend, and bring an appetite!
