Heyman Family Programs at MoMA
Experience art, and the museum itself, in a whole new way
The Samuel and Ronnie Heyman Family Art Lab is an interactive, hands-on space where kids and adults can experiment with materials, build, and explore modern art. Admission is free for kids under 16. The Heyman Family Programs also offer family gallery talks and workshops inside actual MoMA galleries.
My family and I have attended several of these workshops, in which an artist or curator discusses specific artworks and art techniques with kids (and their adults) while seated on the floor just a few feet from major art masterpieces! Kids are also offered short art projects to complete during their stay. I personally found it thrilling to be allowed to experience these works of art, and the museum space, in such a relaxed setting.
